Dear Church Family at First Henderson UMC,

Philippians 4:4 reminds us to always rejoice in the Lord. This is especially true during the good times. Although there has been little to celebrate this past year due to the pandemic, it is with hope and joy that I write this letter.

As we know, May 1st marks the date when statewide restrictions will begin to ease. Notably, the seating capacity for indoor venues will be increased from 50% to 80%. This is great news and a wonderful sign that we are headed in the right direction. With these new guidelines in place, our in-person worship can begin to return to normalcy.

Accordingly, our church leadership has decided to amend our Reopening Plan to reflect the following changes:

  1. Beginning in May, our church will no longer require the signing and use of waivers for the congregation and for any visiting guests to attend worship services. This also applies for Adult Sunday school, Children’s Sunday school, and the nursery.
  2. The sanctuary chairs will be moved back to their original positions and number before the pandemic. Since seating capacity will be increased to 80%, our church will no longer require reservations and seating assignments. However, reservations for the nursery will be required, so please call or email the church office (Monday to Friday, 10AM-12PM) if you need childcare assistance.
  3. Adult Sunday school will resume on Sundays.

Please keep in mind that the other restrictions from our Reopening Plan will remain in place. Although there are definite signs of improvement, we are not completely back to normal just yet. While we wait for that day, let us do our part to keep each other safe and healthy during these trying times. As I mentioned in my previous letter, we must continue to devote ourselves to God’s ministry and to the love and care for our neighbors and church family. Let us remain steadfast in faith and vigilant in our spiritual preparations for the future, all the while praising God for every one of His blessings.

Your fellow brother in Christ,

Pastor Terry
