Fred Heggestad, Lead Pastor

Raised in Madison, Wisconsin Pastor Fred Heggestad served in the United States Army after high school graduation. Upon leaving the service he joined the Arizona State Police and served with distinction. His faith journey led him to listen and obey as he was called to preach the word of God. Upon retiring from the State Police, he took up the call full time and became a pastor with the United Methodist Church. Pastor Fred obtained degrees in Aviation and Emergency Management before becoming a pastor in March, 2013.  Since then, Pastor Fred has taken theological classes at Southern Methodist University in Texas and St. Paul Theological Seminary in Kansas.  He is a Bible based preacher with a delightful, and self-deprecating sense of humor.  Pastor Fred’s first appointment as a Local Pastor was in Coolidge, Arizona and First Henderson UMC welcomed him on July 1, 2016.

Pastor Fred strongly believes the church needs to reach out and make Christ known in the world. He believes we are the instruments of God’s will and a person filled with the love of Christ cannot fail to act.
