Blue Christmas Service
Sunday, December 4
9:30 am

Have a holly, jolly Christmas;
it's the best time of the year!

blue christmas I'll have a blue Christmas without you. I'll be so blue just thinking about you…

These very popular Christmas carol lyrics are complete opposites. While one tells of Christmas being the most wonderful time of the year the other speaks to those who are grieving or facing other difficulties, where the festive atmosphere of the season might intensify their pain and sorrow.

The Blue Christmas service will be reflective, with a focus on hope and healing. Prayers, scripture, and music will be selected to offer assurance that God is with those who are struggling.

Bible Studies

“The Good, The Bad & The Ugly”
Advent Study with Pastor Fred
Wednesday Evenings at 7 pm
Begining November 30

In this four-week Advent study, author Richard B. Wilke focuses on
people in the story of Christ’s birth. There are those we associate with the joy and celebration of Christmas—the wise men, the shepherds, and Joseph. Yet the author reminds us not to forget that the evil King Herod is also part of the Christmas story, and how it is because there is evil in our world that we so desperately

The Holy Spirit, Here and Now.
Sunday
6pm
led by Terry Perkins

Have you ever wondered just what the Holy Spirit does? We rarely think about, let alone talk about the Holy Spirit. Many of us don’t really know what it is, what it does or how it works. In fact, some people are just a little bit afraid of it. If you would like to know more about the Holy Spirit and the role it plays in our lives and our relationship with God, then come join in a study of Trevor Hudson’s book, The Holy Spirit, Here and Now. Trevor Hudson explores the Holy Spirit as active in our lives at this moment and every moment. The Holy Spirit isn’t some scary ghost that possesses us, but an avenue to a greater understanding of God’s love. Through the Holy Spirit we gain a passion that transforms our faith so our ordinary, everyday lives become guided and shaped by God’s love.

Small Group Bible Study
7 pm in the Sanctuary
Curt Smith, Facilitator

Join us as we begin a bible study on the book of Colossians. We will use our Bibles and the “Thru the Bible” text of Dr. J. Vernon McGee. We will explore the wisdom of Paul (through the inspiration of God) as he teaches us the preeminence of Christ and how we can apply this teaching to our lives today. During this class we will be reading the scripture and then have an open discussion.
